The goal of this project was to create an integrated system for a business or service. The system needed to include at least four materials and remain consistent across various media.
Plume is a locally-owned pen store and creative space in downtown Kansas City. It is designed to bring fountain pens out of obscurity by focusing on the artistic and meditative aspects of calligraphy and hand lettering.
Plume challenges the idea that fountain pens are exclusively for seasoned businessmen. The brand is contemporary and inviting, but still pays homage to the more traditional side of pens.
The final logo and brand elements are inspired by traditional pen nib engravings, but stay current through the use of monoline illustration. This “tradition with a twist” is repeated throughout the brand in applications like enamel pins, storefront signage, and a website.
